Welcome to National Agro Foundation

Founded in 2000 by Bharat Ratna Shri C. Subramaniam, the Architect of India’s Green Revolution, National Agro Foundation (NAF) is a not-for-profit public charitable trust dedicated to empowering rural communities through sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and inclusive development.

For more than two decades, NAF has partnered with farmers, governments, corporate CSR initiatives, and research institutions to build resilient livelihoods and create lasting impact.

Vision

To create a “Healthy, Literate and Prosperous Rural India”

Mission

Creating replicable models of prosperous rural clusters through ecologically safe, environmentally sustainable farm and non-farm sector activities, natural resource management, rural enterprises and human resource development by networking various stakeholders through mutually beneficial partnership.

Our Development Approach

Environment

Protecting natural resources for a sustainable future.

Environment

Watershed development in several parts of the country, to stop the loss of soil and water and keep natural resources productive. The gains show up on the farm: recharged groundwater, higher cropping intensity and better productivity.

Education

Building knowledge and skills for sustainable rural development.

Education

Need-based, demand-driven training built around new technologies and modalities, so farm households can test, try and adopt what works. The same programmes improve employability for rural youth and build a lasting culture of sustainability in the farming community.

Empowerment

Strengthening communities through participation and inclusive growth.

Empowerment

Rural prosperity holds when rural people manage their own social, economic and environmental needs. Every programme is built on the active engagement of the user community, and on creating the conditions for its self-reliance.

Economy

Creating resilient livelihoods through agriculture and rural enterprises.

Economy

Farming stays unprofitable for most Indian farmers: the weather, poor market linkages, deteriorating soils. We work the shift from agri-culture to agri-business, so a market-oriented approach pays the household that grows the crop.
