Who we are
About National Agro Foundation
What is National Agro Foundation?
National Agro Foundation (NAF) is a not-for-profit public charitable trust founded in Chennai in 2000 by Bharat Ratna Shri C. Subramaniam. It works on watershed development, agriculture, agribusiness, training, and NABL accredited and SIRO recognized laboratory testing and research. It holds UN ECOSOC special consultative status.
Working with small and marginal farmers
For over two decades, NAF has worked alongside farming communities to address the evolving challenges of agriculture, climate change, water scarcity, and rural livelihoods. By combining scientific innovation with grassroots participation, we empower small and marginal farmers to adopt sustainable practices, enhance productivity, conserve natural resources, and build resilient communities.
Programmes and partnerships
Our work spans climate-smart agriculture, watershed development, water resource management, ecological restoration, women and youth empowerment, skill development, biodiversity conservation, technology-enabled farming, and environmental sustainability. Through strong partnerships with governments, corporate CSR initiatives, research institutions, and local communities, we design and implement integrated development programmes that create measurable and lasting impact.
The “Soil to Market” approach
Inspired by the vision of our founder, NAF continues to advance a holistic “Soil to Market” approach, strengthening every stage of the agricultural value chain while improving the quality of life for rural families. As we look to the future, we remain committed to fostering innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth, ensuring that every farmer and every village has the opportunity to thrive.
Together, we are building resilient communities, sustainable agriculture, and a better future for generations to come.
