Who we are

Twenty-five years of rural development, with a laboratory behind it.

National Agro Foundation is a not-for-profit public charitable trust, founded in Chennai in 2000 by Bharat Ratna Shri C. Subramaniam, the Architect of India’s Green Revolution. It works with small and marginal farm households on watershed development, climate-smart agriculture, Farmer Producer Organisations, socio-economic development, training, laboratory testing and research.

For more than two decades, NAF has partnered with farmers, governments, corporate CSR initiatives and research institutions to build resilient livelihoods and create lasting impact.

What you can fund

Six divisions, one farm household.

A partnership can sit in one division or draw on several. Each division page sets out its work and its projects.

How a partnership works

From a first email to a report on what changed.

Every programme is shaped around the partner's priorities and the community's needs. This is the path it usually follows.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Tell us what you want to achieve: the theme, the geography, the people you want to reach.

  2. 02

    Needs assessment

We look at the proposed area with the community and local stakeholders, to find what the households there need next.

  3. 03

    Proposal

We come back with a programme design: the interventions, the expected outcomes and what it takes to deliver them.

  4. 04

    Implementation

NAF's field teams run the programme with the community, drawing on the divisions and the laboratory as the work requires.

  5. 05

    Reporting

Progress and outcomes are reported back to the partner in the same terms our project pages use: hectares, kilolitres, households and enterprises.
